A Château Retreat in Southwest France: Reflect And Recharge
Last September Chateau Terre Blanche hosted its first ever professional retreat for a group of Australian doctors. The group of 8 attendees was hosted by owners Gabrielle Howard and Steven Morris. Mornings were filled with insightful speakers, while afternoons were spent hiking, biking, exploring local markets, and wine tasting. Evenings were enjoyed with an apéro by the pool, friendly games at the pétanque court, and dinners on the terrace—creating the perfect atmosphere for deep conversations and reflection.

Each doctor had the opportunity to lead discussions on topics of interest, fostering both professional growth and personal connections. The diverse group included general practitioners, endocrinologists, and criminal psychiatrists, among others.
“Fantastic property and ideal location for a brilliant focused medical retreat. There was so much to see and do around Chalabre.”
Dr. Tony Morrow, retreat participant.

The Benefits of a Professional Retreat at Chateau Terre Blanche
In today’s fast-paced world, professionals are constantly juggling demanding schedules, high-pressure deadlines, and the challenge of maintaining a work-life balance. The stress of everyday responsibilities can quickly lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and a lack of motivation. That’s why taking time for yourself at a retreat can be a game-changer, especially during the months of September to May, a time of year (unlike the summer months when travel destinations are often crowded) which allows for a more peaceful and immersive retreat experience.
The Chateau enjoys a prime location in southwestern France, nestled within a charming village that offers convenient access to local amenities. Guests can easily explore the Saturday market, enjoy fresh produce throughout the week, and dine at nearby cafés and restaurants—all just a short walk away. The surrounding region is rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage. A nearby lake provides opportunities for walking, swimming, and cycling, while the scenic Voie Verte offers additional outdoor recreation. The Pyrenees mountains and Andorra are within a 1-2 hours drive, ideal for day trips, especially during the winter months when the mountains offer excellent skiing. The area is also steeped in history, featuring notable sites such as Cathar ruins and the renowned Lombrives and Niaux caves, home to some of the world’s earliest known cave paintings.
Professional retreats can encourage stress reduction, allowing professionals to unwind, disconnect from technology, and practice mindfulness while still offering opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals. Whether through group workshops, discussions, or shared experiences, attendees often leave with valuable insights and relationships that can positively impact their careers.

Chateau Terre Blanche is the perfect setting for professionals looking to host their own retreat. Whether you’re in the medical field, business leadership, creative industries, or any other profession, this tranquil haven offers an inspiring environment for growth and relaxation.
If you’re a professional looking to boost productivity, gain clarity, and achieve personal growth, consider booking the Chateau as a location for your next retreat. Prioritize self-care, embrace the opportunity to recharge, and return to work with renewed motivation. Your mind, body, and career will thank you!
